Night Baptisms at First Baptist Church
When: Sun, April 19th 5:30 PM
Where: First Baptist Church
In our early days as a church we’d gather on a Sunday night to celebrate baptisms and share a meal as a church family. This year, we’re excited to return to that celebration of our youth by hosting night baptisms at First Baptist Church on April 19th. We will begin baptisms at 5:30pm and share in the joy together afterward with a family-style collective dinner. Bring your family and friends to this very special night, and bring your favorite dish (that serves 10+) to share!
Baptism is the Christian act of immersing a believer under water and then bringing him or her out of the water. Christ himself was baptized in the Sea of Galilee by John the Baptist. This historical incident is very important to the church, even today. Just as Christ’s ministry on earth was marked by his initial baptism and his father’s blessing, “This is my son (or daughter), in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17), we step forward as full participants in Christ’s body through baptism. It is both a public declaration of one’s identification with Christ in his death and resurrection as well as an identification with Christ’s sonship as we receive the Father’s blessing.
If you have committed your life to following Jesus, as a church family we desire to welcome you into the body of Christ through the blessing of baptism. To receive baptism, we require that you attend our Baptism Class after church on Sunday, April 12th. Our baptisms will be celebrated the following Sunday, April 19th. Please register for the class here. If you have any questions about baptisms prior to the spring and fall, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
First Baptist Church is located at 22 Waller Street on the corner of Octavia and Waller. Street parking is available. While street parking is limited, FBC is accessible by public transport such as the Muni F line and bus lines.
