Baptism On The Blacktop

Where: Everett Middle School
Celebrating the baptism of our brothers and sisters in Christ is one of our greatest joys as a church community. Twice a year we open up baptism to anyone in our church who desires to declare their identification with Christ as a part of this community. We hope the entire church will join us as we rejoice in Christ’s work of renewal and redemption in the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Baptism is the Christian act of immersing a believer under water and then bringing him or her out of the water. Christ himself was baptized in the Sea of Galilee by John the Baptist. This historical incident is very important to the church, even today. Just as Christ’s ministry on earth was marked by his initial baptism and his father’s blessing, “This is my son (or daughter), in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17), we step forward as full participants in Christ’s body through baptism. It is both a public declaration of one’s identification with Christ in his death and resurrection as well as an identification with Christ’s sonship as we receive the Father’s blessing.
