Mission Team

We are a deaconate (service) team with multiple functions but two primary responsibilities:

  1. Supporting, empowering, and equipping the church to engage in healthy and effective ministry, both locally and abroad.
  2. Stewarding the church’s Mission Budget by investing wisely and faithfully in individuals and organizations serving both locally and abroad.

Our first goal is to help the church do better ministry. If the scale is from bad to good, we want to always be improving. To do so, we’ve outlined a Mission Philosophy with a set of values that we believe define good ministry. Please read this to understand why we do what we do.

Our second task is to faithfully steward the church’s resources by filtering financial requests, investing only in projects that meet a high standard in pursuing healthy and effective ministry. This means not just encouraging quality, but deciding about qualification, asking, “Is this ministry a wise kingdom investment?” While we hope to invest in no bad ministry, this is often rather a decision between better and best. To do this, we’ve created a Support Guideline to determine which mission endeavors qualify for financial support. Please read this to understand how we decide what we do. Though our criteria may seem strict, we believe that our responsibility to invest faithfully takes precedent over any desire to affirm one another through financial support.

Reality SF’s goal is to become a church that is always growing in its ability to serve effectively and love well. The Mission Team’s role is to help disciple the church in that direction. Together, we have to delineate between encouraging one another along in always imperfect ministry and setting a very high bar to invest our fortunes well (Matthew 25:14-30). But though we are careful with where we give, our door is wide open to you. Feel free to contact us to discuss our philosophy, our guidelines, or your own life and mission. We are here to help you serve and serve well. To connect, click here.
