Serve with the Outreach Team

volunteer application

Our Outreach Team partners with amazing local organizations to actively meet the needs of families, the physically vulnerable, and people experiencing homelessness.

Current Serving Opportunities

Here’s how we’re currently coming alongside our Renewal Partners in the city.

Community Breakfast w/ City Hope

In partnership with City Hope SF, we want to invite you to join us once a month on Saturday mornings in preparing a hot takeout breakfast for our neighbors in need who live in the Tenderloin. You’ll be joining a team of 8-10 fellow Reality SF volunteers to handle the breakfast preparation and distribution.

While City Hope normally welcomes their guests inside their Community Center for a lengthier breakfast and conversation, they’re unable to host this type of event for the foreseeable future. Due to COVID-19, meals are now served to-go, but City Hope maintains their value of relational fellowship by greeting patrons by name and serving coffee while breakfast is prepared.

They’ve witnessed a heightened amount of people in line who have become food insecure and are committed to continue to serve the community.

Shower Ministry w/ YWAM SF

Our Renewal Partner, YWAM SF, has been faithfully serving the Tenderloin for many years. This year, they have seen a significant increase in the population that is in need of their essential services. They are one of the only organizations continuing to offer showers to the unhoused community during this crucial time, and as result, they have doubled the amount of people they serve with this ministry each week.

While there is an essential service being offered, it’s also so much more than a shower. Regular showers helps remind people of their dignity, as one regular says “YWAM’s showers are like a warm hug.” It seems simple, but we believe it’s in the simple and mundane that acts of love change and inspire people.
