Live Out Loud (01.24.22)
Processing and responding to the Sunday sermon
After the group welcomes one another, have one person open in prayer and then take 2-3 minutes of silence. As you sit in silence, ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart in love toward God and your group mates.
The Authority of Jesus
On Sunday, Dale preached on the way Jesus accelerated the growth of the disciples in Mark 6:7-13.
As Jesus sent out the disciples, He instructed them to:
1. Be aware.
2. Let Him provide.
3. Extend the blessing.
4. Be content.
5. Be flexible.
Accelerated growth happened particularly through Jesus empowering and then sending His disciples out into risky situations that required their dependence on Him.
Reflection and Discussion
Read Mark 6:7-13 and then prayerfully and silently reflect on the passage and these questions.
- If you were in the disciples’ place, what would be some of the biggest challenges you would face by taking on this mission?
- Which parts of this scripture do you believe the Holy Spirit wants you most to pay attention to? Why?
After silently reflecting, take these thoughts into a time of group discussion.
- What’s the mission you believe Jesus has sent us on now in modern-day SF? How is it similar or different from Mark 6:7-13?
- What most commonly gets in the way for you living as a disciple on a mission, and what most motivates or encourages you?
Pray for your group, our church, our city, and our world.
