Serving in Children’s Ministry
In The Village, we believe that serving our children by leading, blessing, teaching, and loving them opens us up to experience the leading, blessing, teaching, and love of God in our own lives. The Village desires to create opportunities for the church to serve out of their unique gifts and talents for the mutual benefit of adults and children and the glory of God. The below volunteer roles serve across all of our age groups.
Volunteer Roles
Small Group Leader (Nursery, Preschool, or Elementary)
​Facilitates small group time activities, helps engage the children in storytelling and worship times on Sunday morning, and keeps the group on time with the given schedule
(Good listening skills; a willingness to engage with children; hospitable; classroom management skills are a plus)
Worship Leader (Nursery, Preschool, or Elementary)
Creates a time for children to express praise and worship to God through music, dance and other creative elements.
(Music lover; someone who is enthusiastic, teachable, reliable, approachable, perseverant, and comfortable pioneering the worship experience for children)
Special Buddy (Any Age-Group)
Provides one-on-one or small group assistance, support, and friendship to a child with a disability, diagnosis, or learning difference in an inclusive setting. The Special Buddy Ministry is ultimately about making the life of our church accessible to all children and communicating how Christ and His Kingdom accept all who come to Him in faith, regardless of their inherent abilities and disabilities.
(Experience working with children with various developmental diagnoses; motivation and enthusiasm toward being with and learning from these special children; integrity, sensitivity and confidentiality; respect for each child and family; a teachable and dependable personality)
Welcome Team
Creates an excellent experience in The Village on Sunday mornings by efficiently welcoming children and families and processing name tags for children. In addition to inputting and maintaining data into Planning Center, a Welcome Team Member is a resource on Sunday mornings for families and Village volunteers.

Safety & Security Team
Provides a safe and secure environment for all members of The Village.
(Friendly and welcoming demeanor; a watchful eye; a helpful presence; an ability to relate to parents and children)
Creative Prep Team
Supports The Village behind the scenes by completing projects that will be used by volunteers, staff, and children on Sundays.
(A creative eye, craftiness, an attention to detail, and a willingness to help)
Room Design Team
Prepares the children’s spaces for Sundays in The Village, ensuring each room is age-appropriate, clean, safe, and child friendly.
(A willingness to work hard; an ability to organize and think spatially; attention to detail; an eagerness to jump in and help)
