02.03.21 | Confession & Forgiveness

In Luke 23, our BREAD reading for today, Luke describes the death of Jesus, which has brought us the forgiveness of our sins. Today’s Fasting & Prayer Focus is centered on acknowledging our sins before the cross, and asking Jesus for His forgiveness.

Take a moment to imagine yourself present at the cross of Jesus as Luke describes in chapter 23, verses 44-46. As you do so, invite the Spirit to reveal the things in your life that you need to repent of.

When you know what these are, once again imagine yourself present in the scene of Luke 23:44-46. Confess to Jesus the things that you want forgiveness for, and allow Him to speak forgiveness over you. Like scripture says in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

It can also be beneficial for us to confess these things to a brother or sister in Christ, and audibly hear the words “You are forgiven.” If that’s on your heart, reach out to someone. Ask if you can confess your sins to them so they may speak forgiveness over you.
