06.23.21 | Appreciation & Action

In today’s BREAD reading from Philippians 1:9-10, Paul writes a prayer for the church in Philippi:

“That your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.”

During today’s fasting and prayer focus, we will spend time drawing closer to God through showing our appreciation and love for Him. Take this opportunity to express your appreciation through prayer, song, a walk in creation – any way that feels natural to you. Then ask yourself, “How has God shown up for me, and how have I experienced His love this week?”

With appreciation and love for the Lord in your heart, reflect and allow the Spirit to bring to mind the things in your life that you are looking for insight and discernment for. Write them down and then bring your requests before God. Ask Him what He desires for you to know about this specific situation. Take time to journal about what you hear and write down the insights He is showing to you.

Finish your day by considering if there is any specific action you feel the Lord is prompting you toward. Connect with a brother or sister to share what is being revealed to you, and be courageous to take a step out in faith and act on what you are being invited into.
