08.25.21 | Faith & Baptism
In light of the Baptisms that happened during our services on Sunday, let’s use this day of Fasting & Prayer to reflect on our own baptism.
Take some time to thoughtfully pray through the Apostles Creed:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
Consider:
- What words or line stands out to you as read this? What grabs your attention? Reflect on these words and ask God, “What do You want me to know about this?”
- Call to mind some of the testimonies from those that were baptized on Sunday. Is there anything that you remember or stood out to you? What acts of faith or ways God impacted their lives come to mind?
- Think about your own baptism (if you have been already) and your journey of faith. How has God impacted your life? What was your testimony during your baptism (or what would that testimony be if you haven’t already)? How has God impacted your life since then?
Write down the things that come to mind and reflect on what God is telling you today. Celebrate and thank Him for what He has done in your life.
Consider sharing your baptism story or testimony with someone in your community as a witness to God’s work in your life, and then pray for one another’s continued journey of faith.
