09.01.21 | Faith & Maturity

In today’s BREAD reading from Hebrews 6, the author urges his audience to “move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity.” It also speaks on those that have fallen away from their faith in Jesus, and how it is possible for them to return.

For today’s fasting and prayer focus, we will self-examine our state of maturity, and pray for those we know that have fallen away from the faith.

We will start our practice by looking inward with a time of prayer and appreciation for Jesus. Thank Him for what He has done, for His faithfulness, the ways He has answered prayer, and who He is in your life. Spend time expressing appreciation and gratitude, if possible speak aloud.

Then, take time to ask Jesus:

Pay attention to what Jesus is saying and write these things down. Take time to meditate and ask God, “How do You want me to mature in these areas?” Spend time listening to what Jesus says to you.

End your time by remembering the people in your life who have lost or are severely doubting their faith in Jesus. Spend time interceding for them. Say their names aloud, and ask that Jesus reveal Himself to them in new and fresh ways.

If you feel that the Holy Spirit may be prompting you to make a connection with them personally, follow that invitation and reach out to them in love.
