09.22.21 | Follow Me

In today’s BREAD reading from Mark 2 it says,

As [Jesus] walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.

During today’s fasting and prayer focus, we will join in with Levi to hear Jesus’ call to follow him. By turning our attention from daily tasks, we will seek to find Jesus, present with us.

Take a moment, close your eyes, imagine Jesus before you, and say aloud, “Jesus, I want to follow you today.” Then simply ask him,“Where are you going?” Spend some time awaiting his answer to see where he is leading you, what he is showing you, and what he is saying to you. Write down what you see, hear, and experience.

Finally, consider how he is inviting you to participate in his kingdom right now. Commit to following him today in the ways he has revealed to you. Then, for the rest of your day, keep your eyes on Jesus, seeking to identify where he is leading you and where he is present with you.
