10.13.21 | Calling Out to God
In today’s BREAD reading, Peter writes:
“Now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith…” (1 Peter 1:6-7)
Scripture tells us that we will go through trials in the Christian faith, and grief will be a part of our journey. During today’s Fasting & Prayer Focus, we will spend time calling out to God to intervene on behalf of us for the crisis we are in, or might be on the brink of. If you personally are not in crisis, intercede for another person in your life who is going through or is entering a crisis of their own.
Begin your time expressing gratitude to God, worshipping Him by speaking aloud what you love about Him. (Singing a worship song or reading a psalm in prayer are great ways to express gratitude.) You may also choose to write down your prayer.
Next, bring before God the crisis at hand. Share with Him about what is going on in your life or the life of someone else. Pour your heart out before Him, bringing your crisis before God and leaving room for Him to respond back to you. Use this time to plead with Him about specific ways you are asking Him to intervene and intercede for you.
Finish your time by reading Psalm 40 out loud as a prayer to God.
