10.27.21 | His Mission
In today’s BREAD reading from the Gospel of John chapter 3, we read:
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
During today’s Fasting & Prayer Focus, we will posture ourselves towards listening to God for the ways in which He wants us to partner with Him for the salvation of the world.
First, spend time worshipping God, thanking Him specifically for the gift of His Son and your salvation through Him.
Then, pray to God, “I know You are on mission to save this world. In what ways are You currently working around me that You want me to be aware of?” Spend some time in quiet, listening to what God is saying, and journal about what you hear.
Next, spend time reflecting on how you can partner with God in His work around you. What specific ways, organizations, or people come to mind when you think about God’s desire to save the world? Write these things down and consider practical ways to support God’s mission. [Examples may include: reaching out to neighbors or people often see or encounter; financially supporting organizations or churches that serve a particular demographic of people; etc.]
Allow God to speak to you directly, and then commit to the ways in which you want to support His mission. We encourage you to share your intention with a brother or sister or your community to help keep you accountable to this commitment.
