11.25.20 | The Reason for Hope

In today’s BREAD reading, Peter writes to  “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” (1 Peter 3:15). The prayer and fasting focus for today will be around the hope that we have in Christ. Take time to reflect, journal, and even share with someone about the hope you have, or the hope you desire to have, in Christ. Bring this before God and listen to what he wants to share with you about the hope he gives.

Today, we also want to highlight a common practice in fasting. As you abstain from food, allow the hunger you feel to prompt you towards prayer. Historically, the ringing of church bells three times a day would remind the people around it to pray the Lord’s prayer. Use the feeling of hunger to prompt you to pray and focus on the hope we have in Christ.
