Practical Commitments for Music Ministry
Our mission as a Music Ministry is to partner in the work of the Holy Spirit to create a space for people to connect with the heartbeat of God through music. As we work toward this goal as a team, we dedicate our time and talents in preparation, in practice, and in relationship to one another.
As a member of this team, we ask you to commit to:
- A life of character as laid out in the Character & Integrity Commitments for Music Ministry.
- Reality SF as your home church and being involved in the life of our church on a weekly basis.
- Be available to play 1-2 times/month, on average during this volunteer season.
- Attend at least half of the All-Team/Music Ministry Community Calendar events, and to make a concerted effort to attend all the important “All Team” events (Annual Retreat, Vision Night, etc).
- Open-handedness in regards to the needs of the ministry at the end of this volunteer season as it pertains to your place on the team, should we ask you to step aside to make room for others to join our roster.
- Stay up-to-date with Planning Center scheduling requests, and inputting all scheduled times (including rehearsals) into your calendar.
- Responding quickly (within reason) to all Music Ministry communications – emails, texts, etc.
- Come prepared to all scheduled times:
- Familiar with the songs and knowing the arrangements
- With any/all equipment needed to do your job well (incl. cables, tuners, straps, etc.)
- With punctuality; plugged-in, tuned, and in-position by the designated sound-check time
- The dates for which you are scheduled, not canceling last-minute because something more fun came up 🙂
- Find a replacement for yourself (in the incident that you must cancel) and will send an email to communicate the switch to myself and to the team-member who will be covering for you.
- Assist the AV team in the stage tear-down process after gatherings where you are serving (if asked).
- Speak highly of and kindly to all team-members and leadership.
- Contribute to our team culture of prayer, creativity, and encouragement in your words/actions.
Our desire is to see you grow as a leader and follower of Jesus, and we believe these commitments will help to guide that growth. By volunteering as a leader within this ministry, you are agreeing to commit to these qualifications of volunteer-leadership.
Thank you for your desire to commit to joining us in these values,
and for your heart to serve God and His church here in San Francisco.
With love and thankfulness,
Music Ministry Team
