Tyler Madsen

Music Pastor

Many years ago, an electric guitar showed up on Tyler’s front porch with a note reading: “To Tyler, from Jesus.” Years later, the Lord revealed to him that music would not just be a hobby, but his life’s work.

Growing up as a pastor’s kid, ministry has been an integral part of Tyler’s life from an early age. From being surrounded by a rich heritage of faith, immersed in the songs and stories of Jesus, Tyler’s journey has been deeply intertwined with his calling to serve in ministry.

Tyler attended Azusa Pacific University, where he discovered his vocation in music while majoring in Psychology. Since graduating, he has been privileged to pursue music full-time. Whether writing, recording, and releasing original music or touring with his band, Branches, he considers himself blessed to spend his days doing what he loves most.

As Music Pastor, Tyler utilizes his deep passion for music and production to lead these aspects of the church’s gatherings. He also shepherds the community of the Volunteer Worship Band and contributes to writing and recording original music for our church. Tyler is thankful that God drew him and his wife, Kelly, to this city and to Reality SF, where he has found a musical and spiritual community like nowhere else.

Outside of work, Tyler is an avid fan of Liverpool FC and Formula 1 Racing. He and Kelly live in the Richmond District with their son Morgan and boxer Dobby (a dog, not a professional fighter).
