Susanna Ciaramitaro

Missionary, Compassion First

A Bay Area native transplanted to Southeast Asia, Susanna serves with Compassion First, an aftercare shelter for child survivors of sex trafficking.

“My passion is to bring loving, hope-filled, trauma-informed care to survivors of sex trafficking in Southeast Asia.

I first began serving in Southeast Asia in a church planting ministry in 2016. After years of seeing the problem of human trafficking thriving all around me, I sensed God moving me to focus my efforts on helping survivors of trafficking. I completed my Masters degree in Human Services Counseling in 2021, and returned back to Southeast Asia in 2022. Since then, I have helped open a new safe house for underaged female survivors of sex trafficking. Currently my focus is overseeing the trauma rehabilitation program and the girls’ individual care plans. I also assist with staff training and development to further empower the staff to effectively provide high quality trauma-informed care to the survivors that they serve.

I am so privileged to use my passions of psychology and trauma-informed care to help these incredible girls that have already undergone so much in their young lives. My favorite part of this ministry is watching a girl’s transformation from the time she enters the safe house to the moment she actually realizes that she is safe, loved, and has a bright future. The change is dramatic when she knows she is special and has choices in life. It is so precious to witness!

I love Reality SF and have grown tremendously since first joining. My first Community Group helped brought me to people that truly cared and supported each other – something I really needed at that time! Even though I am overseas now, I listen to services online and follow the weekly schedule on what is going on in SF. It is such a blessing to be connected even though I am far away.

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and have been a Giants and Warriors fan from birth! I love artisan coffee, and will go to great lengths to find the best beans in order to brew the perfect cup. I enjoy running, reading, and playing the piano.”
