Why We Give

As followers of Jesus, we give in response to the grace and generosity of God. Our giving is not a legalistic compulsion, but rather a cheerful offering of whatever amount God has placed on our hearts by His grace (2 Corinthians 9:7). This “grace-giving” is generous, willing, God-directed, sacrificial, active, and motivated by love (2 Corinthians 8:2-8). We consider giving an act of worship to the Lord, which is why we make space every Sunday for a public offering. And once a month, we read a Generosity Prayer together to posture our hearts toward the generosity of Christ.

Financial Reporting

Reality seeks to be above reproach in our stewardship of God’s financial resources given to the local church. We maintain an open-book policy, and beginning in 2019, choose to be annually reviewed by an independent Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), which is the national standard governed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). A review is the second highest level of audit services.

Fiscal Year Financials:

Reality SF is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). ECFA certification is based on Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship, including financial accountability, transparency, sound board governance and ethical fundraising. When an organization is certified by ECFA, it demonstrates its willingness to follow the model of biblical accountability.  View our ECFA press release here.

Ministry Expenses

Justice & Outreach: Includes financial partnerships with Renewal Partner Organizations, partial financial support of local missionaries, and giving to Bay-Area church plants. See breakdown below.

Benevolence: Through a discerning Benevolence Team, we care for families and individuals within our church who are in need of emergency financial assistance, practical support, and prayer.

Our Generosity Prayer

Godliness with contentment is great gain. We bring nothing into this world, and we take nothing out of it. We who call Jesus Lord devote ourselves to resisting greed, which plunges the human heart into ruin, and pierces it with many griefs. We are determined to practice generosity with free hearts, fixing our hope on God and not the uncertainty of wealth. We desire to be rich in good deeds and willing to share all that we have, laying up for ourselves treasure that will not decay but will shine in the age to come.
